    What you will be doing

    As part of an Agile team, you will contribute and support the team to deliver its commitments in a predictable way according to the SAFe definition and with the expected quality.

    • This role will be primarly focused on development within an application based on Oracle Database for WorldPay. This role requires expertise in Data Modelling, Oracle PL/SQL and DBA skills.
    • You will work as part of a team with responsibility for the physical design, development, support, and maintenance of software-based solutions that make up WorldPay's 24/7 online payment processing systems.
    • You will work closely with the testing teams and Functional Architects to support (and perform code deployments to) development, testing and pre-production environments.
    • You will be involved in Business Analysis and interact with end business users in requirement gathering.
    • You will work as part of development project teams to help improve existing (and deliver new) application functionality.
    • WorldPay uses SAFe/agile development methods - practical experience of these would be an asset.
    • You will be mentoring and training developers in database design and SQL & PL/SQL coding.
    • You will provide Level 3 support - maintenance of applications by fixing defects/bugs and perform technical change requests scheduled according to Release Management processes
    • You should proactively identify and suggest improvements and enhancements to working practices.

    What you bring:

    • Must be pro-active, show initiative and be a self-starter
    • Can-do attitude and a sense of responsibility for the wider implications of software engineering, having a flexible approach necessary for the role, as business requirements and their relative priorities are subject to review and change
    • Proven experience in developing database applications using PL/SQL
    • Proven experience in the support of Oracle databases
    • Problem solving skills and the ability to think outside of traditional role boundaries
    • Experience of complex applications interacting with multiple systems, high volume and VLDB in the financial industry
    • Demonstrable track record in delivering work to schedule and specification
    • Good knowledge of database security, auditing and exposure to PCI-DSS.
    • Preferred to have degree level education (computing, math, science or engineering).
    • Experience creating Technical and Functional documentation for application and code
    • Worked with users and application stakeholders to verify and validate requirements
    • Experience in Business Analysis and must have worked in Requirement gathering from end business users.
    • Excellent communication skills are essential to gather and impart information effectively within the department and to the wider business.
    • Passion for sharing knowledge and best practices
    • Ability to work in virtual teams shared across multiple locations
    • Relevant experience of at least 5 years as Database developer
    • Fluent English (written/verbal)

    Tech stack wanted:

    Mandatory:

    • Expert – SQL skills
    • Expert – PL/SQL development
    • Very good - Database performance tuning skills (both queries and server configuration)
      • Partitioning
      • Indexing strategy
      • Volumetric analysis
    • Good – Experience with a version control system such as GIT
    • Good – Data modelling preferably tools like Power Designer
    • Good – Oracle Database 19c, RAC & Grid Infrastructure
    • Good – UNIX shell scripting

    Desirable:

    • Oracle Data Integrator knowledge – is a strong advantage
    • GoldenGate
    • Experience of the following tools: Jira/Rally and Confluence

    Added bonus if you have:
