Purpose:
acts as an interface between Manufacturing Unit and R&D Product Development Centres.

owns the transition of formulas from R&D-PDC to manufacturing ensuring that new products can be efficiently manufactured to an appropriate quality standard.

provides the best practices of technical support to the MUs and assists MU technologist in continuous improvement of existing recipes and quality standards within the production units.

follows 5S standard and participate in the labsteward tasks

To support the Supply Chain an engineer LTS MU has to deal with the following activities:

New Product Implementation
Production transfer
Process Optimisation
Day to Day support
Quality/Complaints


Responsibilities:
New Product Implementations and Production Transfers

Own and facilitate the transition of formulas from R&D-PDC or other plants to production according to the needs of local manufacturing
Plan and execute pilots and evaluate trial batches for NPI's or transfers products ensuring that these products can be efficiently manufactured to an appropriate quality standard at the specific manufacturing sites
Propose local drop in raw materials if needed/suitable

Provide technical support to the MUs for formula industrialization and provide inspection plans by translating European inspection sheet to local inspection plan.

Redefine recipes within framed freedom and approval of PDC's to optimise formula performance through the manufacturing process to achieve the required quality specifications and manufacturing performance.

Check new raw materials against local legislation to advice on the possibility of use in the local site

Process Optimization/Quality

Assist the Q&T team in continuous improvement of the production of existing recipes
Propose and help to define and implement activities to deliver plans to improve plant productivity
Propose and help to define and implement activities to deliver plans to improve plant production quality
Redefine recipes within framed freedom and approval of PDC's to optimise formula performance through the manufacturing process to achieve the required quality specifications and manufacturing performance
Use best practice tests methods and techniques.
Propose improvements for existing/new methods and techniques (if applicable) using R&D standards and define and implement those

Day to day support

Support MU on a daily basis in case of formulation issues or deviating production results
Propose in consultation with the manager how to adjust batches out of specifications
Support MU and the Q&T team with trouble shooting in case of quality/production issues
Advice on how to rework non conform batches

Complaints

Participate in complaint handling if (possibly) related to the local MU and the formulation
Support the Q&T team by checking retained samples and supporting the root cause analysis of the complaint(s)
Give possible solution directions and issue advice at request or at own initiative using R&D standards

General

Discuss project needs with internal customers, set up, plan and execute experiments.

Analyze, interpret and report results using project needs and objectives as well as R&D methods and techniques and productions guidelines.

Present data and outcomes to main stakeholders
Write labnotes or reports about experimental results
Participate in medium complex projects and lead small projects or smaller parts of projects
Keep up with internal and external developments in own field of expertise and ensure transfer and maintaining knowledge and information
Maintain and participate in the 5S standard for the LTS laboratory. Be guardian of HSE and quality standards.
Ensure good knowledge of the recipes, the manufacturing and industrialization processes


Experience & Educational Requirements:
Chemical or Chemical engineering degree
High level of English (written, reading, speaking)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (team spirit), result oriented
Knowledge on computer skills (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, SAP, PV)
Professional experience with responsibilities and roles within Coatings R&D as nice to have, but not a must
Knowledge of paint formulating, manufacturing and industrialization processes as nice to have, but not a must
